 Located at the edge of the Historic Lockerbie neighborhood, Lockerbie Lofts brings life to a brownfield site left vacant for a decade. This sophisticated building solution married multiple construction and occupancy types to maximize value and speed construction. This ground-up construction project includes 215 market-rate apartment homes, 245 underground parking spaces, green roof plaza and common amenities ( fitness center, pool, business center ,etc. ) as well as retail functions.  The new mixed-use development located at 747 Massachusetts Avenue is located at arguably the most prominent gateway intersection along the Mass Ave corridor.   Mixing construction types to provide a cost-efficient project, the 2-story pre-cast podium houses elevated parking for 54 cars as well as 1 O,OOOSF of ground-level commercial space. Working closely with the Indianapolis Historic Preservation Commission, the overall building massing and materials were derived from neighboring structures built at the turn of the century, but executed in a modern arrangement. As a gesture to the arts district in which it resides, DKGR is working with a local artist In the development of the the east-facing garage screen so as to make what Is often a rudimentary architectural component, truly a piece of public art.
